Riding from the pandemic.

Bikes, Brews, and Cruise is a group of local cyclers that started meeting up about a year ago, right in the middle of the pandemic. They meet at Logan Street Market around 11:30am every Sunday (you can't miss them). You can see folks helping each other pumping tires, chatting about the week, and fueling up before the ride. On the road, they look out for eachother and make sure folks don't get left behind, or stay safe through traffic signals. Their typical path takes them over the Big Four bridge and to the Falls of the Ohio where they turn around and return.Headed up by twins, Rashad and Tashad, the group formed as a way to connect with other people while still being safe in regards to COVID-19.  Folks I spoke with had a reasons for joining the group from health and fitness, to connection during the pandemic, to hanging out with friends.  The group started with around 10 people and has grown steadily.  By my count this past Sunday there were 68 cyclers present.

Rashad also wanted to start this group because he sometimes felt out of place in other cycle groups.

"We wanted to start a chill ride that welcomes everyone, beginners or experienced riders." Driven by the community experience he says it means everything to him to meet new friends, ride, and grab a drink after and he loves how diverse the group is too, "with 2020 being so rough it is good to see how riding a bike can bring different people in life together."
